There are no shortage of images to capture in Maine. Take a drive along the coast, head out on some country back roads and keep an eye out for the perfect shot. If you have a digital camera, set the resulotuion on the highest mode possible and if you happen to capture a really great shot, print it out. Here is a tip. Even if you don’t printer and photo paper and all that stuff, you can take your memory card from your camera into most places that develop photos. You can pick which photo or photos you want to print and in no time at all, your photograph can be printed on 4X6, 5X7 or 8X10 glossy photo paper. Get a nice frame for your photo and you will have a piece of your own art for your home that will remind you of Maine for years to come. The great part about this activity is that you do not necessarily need to go to the most popular destinations. Certainly, Mooshead Lake or Sebago Lake are popular and beautiful locations but there are thousands of rivers and lakes and ponds and mountains that get very little press but are just a photogenic.

There is also an interactive solar system on computer that is available to explore while waiting for the light show to begin. The light shows are designed to educate both children and adults on our solar system, comets, what makes the Northern Lights, and there’s even a show about dinosaurs. These shows are a great way for you to spend time with your children and learn together about the amazing aspects of our world and beyond. Each show is designed for particular age groups. So make sure you check the show for the suggested age range so that your family gets the most out of the experience.

With its cobble stone streets and brick Victorian buildings, the Old Port is a great way to take in some local Maine history. Serendipity is one of the boutiques and is located in one of the Portland Italianate structures that was built back in 1866. Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall: Payson Park in Portland offers a great place for you and your children to come an burn of some of that extra energy. The park provides a place to play for everyone. The park also has tennis and basketball courts, baseball fields, skateboarding, roller blading, and roller skating. The kids can play on the playground, and everyone can enjoy sledding and the man made ice rink during the winter. Right next to back cove, one of Portland’s premier walking trails, the park is a great place to come and just have a few moments to make some lasting memories.
