Summer,Winter,Spring,Fall: Where can you find some of the country’s most comprehensive collection of art related to Maine? How about a complete collection of three generations of Wyeth’s? All of these treasures can be found at the Farnsworth Musuem located in the heart of downtown Rockland. The museum is a wonderful place for the whole family to visit and enjoy a wonderful collection of 18th and 19th century artwork from famous artist such as Frank Benson, Thomas Eakins and Eastman Johnson. This is a wonderful museum that houses some well noted and a very large collection of sculptor as well. The museum is a great place to visit while you enjoy the newly re-vitalized Rockland Harbor and downtown area. With a great collections of shops and restaurants you can certainly find plenty to do. After visiting the Farnsworth’s Rockland campus get in your car and head toward Cushing and visit the historic Olson House. Painter Andrew Wyeth created many of his best-loved works there and his famous painting Christina’s World was painted at that house in 1948 which is on display at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Cellardoor Winery: A Treat For The Pallet
Summer, Fall: Cellardoor Winery, located in Lincolnville, is Maine’s only winery / vineyard. All wine is pressed and aged on site. Come and enjoy a leisurely stroll through the vineyards as you sample a variety of fine wine. The grapes are a mix of American and French strains. Highland Games: Brunswick
Summer: Maine’s Scottish community has been coming together for nearly 30 years to maintain and honor their culture and traditions. All the clans come to the table for competitive heavy athletics, Highland dancing, bag pipes, drums and plenty of Scottish food. This is an experience you won’t soon forget. Boothbay Harbor: Go See A Puffin
Summer: To avid birdwatchers, the Puffin is a must see. You know, they are the black and white birds with orange feet and orange multi colored noses. They are cute little things that somewhat resemble penguins. Anyway, kids love them and if you are in Boothbay Harbor you are in “puffin country”. Your best chance of seeing a puffin will be by boat. There are several Puffin tour boats in and around Boothbay Harbor that do seal watching, whale watching and Puffin watching cruises. Puffins are typically found from eastern Maine to Newfoundland and Iceland and Ireland. So, if you are in Maine and within close proximity to the Boothbay Harbor region and looking for a fun day or half day trip consider venturing out to find a Puffin.
Casco Bay: Bailey Island Nature Cruise
Spring, Summer, Fall: The rocky shorelines of Casco Bay are on full display along this scenic nature cruise. The secluded coves are home to seals, sea dwelling birds and various species of flora and fauna. You will also cruise by lighthouses, military forts and the local lobster men as they prepare for a hard day of tending to their traps. Don’t forget to bring a camera along to capture the memory of your outing on film! This is a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere to spend an afternoon exploring. Maine has over 3500 miles of coastline to offer and Casco Bay is one of the best stops along the way.
