Summer: Maine is called vacationland for a reason and with so many different places to choose from it can be tough to decide what is best for you to do. You may be looking for the quiet reprieve of the Maine woods. Camping amongst the pines amid the shadow of Mt. Katahdin can be perfect if you are looking for simple abundance. The quiet, simple beauty that surrounds you really helps you remember what is important in life. Perhaps, you are looking for a little more adventure, then you should head to the forks region where the river runs wild. Taking a white water rafting trip down one of Maine’s rough rivers is both exhilarating and refreshing. White water rafting adventures with a river guide service and an overnight at the adventure lodge can really bring some excitement back into your life. Maybe it’s the ocean that calls to you. The crashing of the surf, the hot sand on your feet it’s the perfect getaway. There are so many places to explore along the coast and so much to do while you are there. Relaxing on the beach, exploring the tidal pools and swimming in the surf, it’s all good. No matter what you decide it’s really up to you. The beauty of a vacation in Maine is you can actually have it all to choose from it’s just a matter of what you want to do!

Summer: York Beach is a destination stop for many visitors to Maine and with so many things to do there it’s obvious why. The beach along draws visitors from all over, miles of lush sand beaches with the blue ocean water makes it the perfect place to spend time. In the center of this seaside town you will find the largest zoo in Maine along with amusement rides and entertainment for the entire family. Nubble Lighthouse can be seen from Soheir Park in York and is one of the prettiest lighthouses in New England. In addition to offering some of the best restaurants and logding York also has a “wild” side to it. Mt. Agamenticus covers 30000 acres in the Southern Maine region and offers miles of hiking and biking trails and on a clear day visitors can see Boston from the top. The beauty of York is that it is close to many other destination spots in Maine such as Portland which only a thirty minute drive and Kittery which is also close. York Beach offers more to do than just sitting on the beach, come check it out!

Summer: Maine is vacationland and if you own an RV and are looking for the perfect place to go consider visiting any one of these. Located in Old Orchard Beach Wild Acres RV Resort is a great place to stay. The campground offers modern RV hook-ups with amenities that will keep you whole family entertained. Close to miles of white sand beaches and the famous Palace Playland Amusement Park you will have plenty to pick from on or off site. The RV park offers daily activities, pools, a mini golf course and even boast it’s own stocked fishing pond. If you want a slightly different change of pace you may want to try Flagg’s RV park located the Wells area. This campground is quiet and only feet from Long Sands Beach. You can hear the ocean from your fire pit and smell the fresh salty air. Close to York Wild Kingdom and all the amenities of the Southern Coast it’s a great place to spend a few days or even a few weeks. The Kittery Outlets are just a bit down the road and with several lighthouses like Nubble Light in the area you will find this is the perfect vacation spot. A little further up the coast in Camden there is Camden Hills RV Resort. With views of Penobscot Bay this campground has a pool, store and planned activities on a nightly basis. The area boast both the mountains and the sea. A trip up Mt. Battie or down to the harbor where there are plenty of shops, restaurants and small beaches to explore. Freeport and it’s outlets are not far and this is a perfect stop on your way further up Route 1 toward the Bar Harbor area. If you have and RV and haven’t got a place to go, try one of these sites in Maine, you’ll be glad you did!

Summer: Maine offers over thirty state parks and choosing which one to visit can be as simple as figuring out what you are looking for and going. Some of the amenities to consider are whether you are interested in visiting a state park on the ocean or fresh water, whether you are looking for camping, hiking or just a picnic destination. One of the popular state parks in the southern part of Maine include Sebago Lake State park which offers fresh water swimming on the beautiful sandy beaches of Sebago Lake. They also offer 250 campsites, hiking and bicycling trails. If you are in the mid-coast area and looking for an ocean front state park you may want to consider Reid State Park. Reid was the first state owned salt water beach and has been a popular site since it opened in 1946. It boast some of the best viewing options for birding in its’ larger than normal sand dunes. The beach offers some great picnic and rock climbing spots where observers can see many of the nearby islands like Seguin, Outer Head and Southport. Further up the coast, you will find Fort Knox State Park located on the banks of the Penobscot River. This is historic fort is rich in history and visitors can explore the entire grounds. In addition, there are plenty of picnic sites to enjoy an afternoon lunch. The Penobscot Narrows Observatory is also available for visitors to enjoy the unbelievable views of the entire Penobscot River Valley. If you are in the Bar Harbor area than Lamoine State Park will offer you some great views of Frenchman’s Bay as well as camping, boating and fishing spots. Take some time to some of the areas lighthouses while you are there. State Parks offer visitors a variety of things to do so go explore one today!

Summer: With pine trees and fresh air Maine offers some of the finest camping around. If you haven’t made your summer camping arrangements yet, now is the time because campgrounds fill up fast. The camping in Maine ranges from well orchestrated campgrounds offering hot showers, entertainment and pools to more wilderness adventures in the great northern woods. Wilderness adventures can be found in the Allagash region of Aroostook County. Wide open spaces with plenty of places to explore and roam. Aroostook River Camping offers visitors a well groomed campground in the heart of wild country. There is so much to do, fishing, hunting, ATV’ing, golfing and it’s only minutes from amenities in town. It’s situated on the banks of the Aroostook River and the views are breathtaking. The Moosehead Family Campground, located in Greenville is a great spot to camp at if you are heading to the Moosehead Lake Region. The campground is clean and offers several amenities like hot showers, a playground and camp store and it is not unheard of to see a moose wandering along the path of the campground. The campground is located only one mile from Moosehead Lake where swimming and picnicking sites are available. Papoose Pond Campground in Waterford offers sandy beaches, a heated pool and private bathrooms on each campsite. There is plenty of activities to keep everyone busy which includes mini golf, volleyball courts, horseshoe pits and Bocce courts. If you are looking for saltwater beach camping than the Wells Beach Resort Campground offers sea, surf and sand. This campground has many modern amenities such as laundry facilities, bathrooms, heated pools and a great mini golf course. Best of all, this campground is located close to Wells Beach and all the happenings of the Southern Coast area.
