Historic Libraries: A Cozy Haven From The Cold

Winter: Maine has some amazing local libraries and can be welcomed reprieve from the wintery weather that we are facing in the upcoming months. The Camden Public Library offers visitors a beautiful view of the harbor as well as a fine collection of books and resources. The library opened its’ doors in 1928 and has much to offered their visitors. The Camden Public Library and its grounds, including Harbor Park and the Amphitheatre, are recognized on the National Register of Historic Places. Another wonderful library is Lithgow Library in Augusta. The Lithgow Public Library was completed in 1896 and is an amazing structure with wonderful authentic stained glass windows that depict many of the historic sites in the Augusta area. The library holds a collection of almost 60,000 books with a wonderful children’s area and it is definitely worth a visit! Why not spend some time this winter at the library, it’s a nice warm quiet place to enjoy some relaxing reading time.
