Rangeley, Maine: 5 Fun Things To Do That Not Everyone Does

Spring, Summer, Fall & Winter: The wildness of Rangley makes this place a haven for outdoor enthusiast. As a matter of fact, Rangley has some of the best wild skiing in the state at the not so well known but, awesome, Saddleback Mountain. This place is unbelievable and I think it offers some of the best skiing in New England. It also is the perfect family mountain with really well marked trails and best of all reasonably priced lift ticket. Rangley’s natural beauty makes this pure mountain skiing at it’s best. Of course, the Rangley Lakes region has some great lakes that are clean and cold from the mountain run off. Mooselookmeguntic is one of those lakes and offers some of the best land locked salmon fishing around. On your way to this amazing lake be sure to stop off at the Height of the Land look-out which offers visitors incredible views between Rangley and Mooselookmeguntic. This is an especially

After you spend some time enjoying the food and company, head across the street where you can take a hike around the local park and work off your lunch. 2. The Genie Comes Alive In Bridgton – Go to a matinee at the classic Magic Lantern Theater in Bridgton. This theater has a great nostalgic feel and décor as it has been a part of Bridgton’s history since the late 20’s. After catching a flick, be sure to head over to the Chinese restaurant across the street - they have a great menu with fresh food with affordable prices. 3. Hit The Farm In Oxford – Wake up early and go to Carter’s Farm on Route 26 in Oxford. You can rent some skis and spend the morning navigating their miles of groomed trails either on snow shoe or cross country skis. After,

The beautiful greens and pinks of this gemstone can be seen on display at Perham's Jewelry store in West Paris. A local shop that is filled with local gems and minerals. These gemstones and minerals are hand-cut right on sight and what a sight it is. The quality, color and beauty of these stones is enough to take your breath

Railroad Square Cinema: Take Me To The Movies!

Summer: Railroad Square Cinema consistently shows independent and foreign films that are to die for! When If you are looking for movies that are a little offbeat, and not on the top ten list then this is the right theater for you. Coming from Portland, Railroad Square seems to have found an unexpected but, successful niche in Central Maine. Often it is the only place in Maine showing rarer but anticipated films. The theater was opened in 1978 and has remained an independently owned since then. The theater is located in a renovated

Appalachian Trail: Hike The 100 Mile Wilderness

Spring, Summer, Fall: Maine's Appalachian trail leads through dense forests, along countless lakes, ponds an rivers, calling all adventurous spirits seeking scenery and solitude. The 100 mile wilderness section begins at the town of Monson and winds its way northeast through some of Maine's largest undeveloped country. This section of trail is not for amatuers, but for those willing to rough it the rewards are plentiful. From panoramic views high atop the mulitiple peaks along the way, to the soothing sound of a babbling brook, or distant cry of Loons echoing across a lake. This is the trip of a lifetime for nature lovers in wild country. Be prepared to pack enough food for ten days on the trail and have a good water filtration system too, cause once on the trail there are no corner markets to resupply. There are some basic shelters along the way in the form of lean-to's but hikers should be prepared to set camp if no space is available. The big reward at the end is
