Maine Things To Do Penguin Plunge: Jump In!
Posted by mainetodo on Wednesday, December 19 @ 17:10:33 PST

Winter: If you think they are crazy you are probably right, but, for all those who participate in the Penguin Plunge held in Boothbay…hats off to you! Why not join the activities yourself. This annual tradition has been a way to raise funds for the local YMCA. Participants actually go for a New Year Day swim in the cool, okay cold, Atlantic. Even if you don’t participate it’s fun to watch all

the people run toward the water yelling and screaming and throw themselves into the water. Participants collect pledges and donations to help raise money for this worthy cause. The Penguin Plunge has gained popularity over the past 6 years and last year they had over 50 people participate in the fun. If you are looking for a refreshing swim, this may be just the place!
