Maine Things To Do Movie Locations: Hollywood Comes To Maine
Posted by mainetodo on Saturday, November 03 @ 18:13:04 PDT

Fall: Did you know that Maine is a hot spot for movie set locations? Why not take a ride and search out these great locations then rent the movies and see if you recognize these Maine spots in the movies. Message In The Bottle starring Kevin Costner was filmed in Maine and one of the primary filming locations was New Harbor, a fishing village and tourist destination south of Damariscotta. In addition to New Harbor,

many of the beach scenes were filmed in Phippsburg on gorgeous Popham Beach. Empire Falls, which was a popular HBO movie was filmed all over Maine in towns like Waterville, York, Norridgewock, and Kennebunkport. Maine resident, Stephen King’s movie Thinner was filmed in Maine from Augusta to Camden. Many of the films extras came from the Camden area where Hollywood had an extras casting call. Mel Gibson’s, Man Without a Face was filmed in a private home on Deer Isle in Penobscot Bay, the second largest of Maine's coastal islands. He shops in Lincolnville General Store and visits Bowdoin College. So take some time and rent a movie then go out location scouting right here in Maine.
