Posted by mainetodo on Monday, July 23 @ 15:52:47 PDT

Summer: Looking for a true Maine experience? Take a ride along the coast from Boothbay Harbor to Winter Harbor and your sure to come across one of the most unique Maine sports going, Lobster Boat Racing. Now in the 18th year with over 8 locations participating in any weekend from June to August you will be able to see why these races are so popular throughout the state. Lobster boat races are not for the faint at heart. The contenders take them seriously and

fans are plentiful. While recently at the races in Boothbay Harbor, you could hear race fans cheering for their favorites. The chants and signs for Ripple, Miss Attitude and Cry Baby could be heard faintly over the rumble of these powerful boats. There were several categories which allows racers to accumulate points in their divisions throughout the season. Racers follow the circuit and accumulate the prizes for the winners. If you are going to attend one of these races they begin at 10 am so get there early to ensure a prime spot.
