Maine Things To Do Cross-Country Skiing: Greater Portland Area Locations
Posted by mainetodo on Saturday, December 09 @ 22:40:28 PST

Winter: This winter, make sure to plan on heading outside for some cross-country skiing. Most parks and golf courses in Portland will allow you to cross-country ski on their properties in the winter time. For those days when you feel closed up in the house, head to the trails along the Eastern Promenade where you can enjoy the scenery overlooking Portland’s harbor with the tugboats and ferries. You’ll also be able to see local fisherman and lobsterman. Another great cross country skiing location

in Portland is the Riverside golf course. Here, you can enjoy the view of the trees covered with snow and the people sledding on the hills. If you prefer being near the water, you could also pack up and head over to one on one of Greater Portland’s beaches such as Willard Beach in South Portland, or Scarborough Beach State Park. One of Maine’s most serene places is the coast, where you can enjoy the sound of the waves and sea gulls along with the panoramic ocean views. These are all wonderful places where you can enjoy a Maine winter day.
