Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall: The Portland Museum of Art is the largest art museum in Maine. It is ranked as one of the best medium art museums in New England. The museum has more than 160,000 visitors per year, and features collection of more than 15,000 various objects that includes work from Pablo Picasso, Claude Monet, Rockwell Kent, Winslow Homer, Marsden Hartley, Louise Nevelson, Pierre-August Renoir, Edgar Degas and countless others. These objects include
paintings, documents, and sculptures.
The museum is made up of three different buildings that host all of their art. The exhibits change about 15 times a year. The museum was founded in 1882, making it one of the oldest museums in Maine. In addition to the viewing of the exhibits, the museum also hosts lectures, family festivals, musical concerts, art classes and many other activities.
