Summer: Nothing says summer more than lying out under the star with the cool night air and the sounds of crickets chirping filling the walls of your tent. There is not better feeling than camping out and the beauty of it all is it’s a very thrifty way of vacationing. Fortunately Maine has tons of great campgrounds that vary from rustic wilderness settings to amenity filled campgrounds with daily activities for families and folks of all ages. The beauty of camping is you can make your own fun, sitting by the campfire roasting marshmallows is a huge hit no matter what the age. This is simple family activity where the stories of what is happening in everyone’s life come out and real family time can be had. Central Maine has a great campground on the shore of Cobbosseecontee Lake. The campground has tented sites right on the water. They also have a lodge, a store and a snack bar and yes they

have hot showers. The beach is sandy and the water come July is warm. Kids love this place and there is always something fun going on any given day. Sennebec Campground in Appleton is known as the campground “on a lake…in the mountains…near the sea” and they couldn’t have said it better. This town is between Union and Camden and there is plenty to see and do close to this great family campground. The campground itself offers fun family game nights, movies under the stars and has a great play ground for the kids on the water front so kids can play and enjoy the lake at the same time. Camping is such a great way to bond with the family without spending a fortune. Rates are as low as $20 per night for a tent site which makes it a fun and affordable adventure for the whole gang!
