Maine Things To Do Camping, Oceanfront Style: Tips & Fun Camping Things To Do
Posted by mainetodo on Thursday, March 12 @ 18:27:01 PDT

Summer & Fall: There is nothing like oceanfront camping. Not only do you get to enjoy sleeping outside in the fresh summer air but, you also get lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves lapping against the shore. When you plan your trip for this summer be sure that the campgrounds you look into actually offer “ocean front” not “ocean side” camping. There are some great spots in Maine that offer great sites with activities that can be enjoyed by the whole family. There are plenty of fun things to do while you enjoy oceanfront camping. First you have a great opportunity to spend some time enjoying the beach. Whether you decide to just chill with a good book or explore the beach searching for seashells and sea glass spending time on the beach is one benefits of oceanfront camping. While you are camping you should also take advantage of your oceanfront accommodations and spend some

time foraging for your food. Digging your own clams is a fun activity and an inexpensive way to enjoy a Maine delicacy, steamers. Head to the local town office to obtain a day permit and your ready to start digging! It’s not as hard as you think, a bucket and shovel will do. Just look for holes in the surface of the mud during low tide, start digging until you uncover these little treasures. Ok, so if that sounds like too much work than how about spending some time in the water or on the water. Rent a kayak and put it in right on the beach or spend some time enjoying some body surfing and riding the waves in on a boogie board. Here are some great spots to check out for oceanfront camping in the mid-coast area, Searsport Shores Campground, Gray Homestead Oceanfront Camping in Southport and Hermits Island in Phippsburg. Try some camping oceanfront style where there is always something fun to do!
