Posted by mainetodo on Sunday, February 01 @ 17:50:52 PST

Summer: Wells is the summer destination spot for many locals and tourist alike. It you are traveling with kids and looking for things to do in the Wells Beach area, here are a few recommendations. So many people visit Wells for the miles of Maine coastline and beaches. Two of the best beaches in the area are Crescent Beach and Drakes Island Beach. Crescent Beach has some great tidal pools that you and the kids can spend hours exploring. Be sure everyone brings a bucket to collect the starfish and crabs that can be found in these amazing tidal pools. Another great beach in Wells area is Drake Island Beach. This beach is not very well known so there usually aren’t many people there so you can enjoy quiet and also enjoy some great bird watching in their bird sanctuary. If the beach is not your thing but, you want to enjoy the outdoors with the kids check out Laudholm

Farms where you can spend an entire day hiking on the miles of trails through this magnificent land reserve. The Seashore Trolley Museum is not too far from Wells and definitely a place the kids will love. Whether you decide to take a ride on the trolley or spend some time visiting the trolley museum you will be glad to made the trip to the "the oldest and largest electric railway museum in the world". If you don’t feel like spending money and are looking for a fun way to spend the day, check out the Wells Recreational area just off Route 9A. You will find a great spot for the kids to play with tennis courts, basketball courts, a picnic area and horseshoe pits. Make traveling with the kids fun by spending some time in Wells this summer, these is plenty to do for the whole family!
