Maine Things To Do Pumpkins & Fall Festivals: Celebrate The Harvest Season!
Posted by mainetodo on Saturday, October 18 @ 11:05:41 PDT

Fall: Fall festivals are happening all over the state celebrating the harvest season. With pumpkins, apples, cider and fall foliage Mainers and visitors alike love this time of year. Celebrations are going on all over the state like in Hallowell. This quaint little town located on the banks of the Kennebec River in Central Maine. The streets are lined with antique shops and some great restaurants like Slates and Maria Libra’s Italian Restaurant. During mid-October Hallowell celebrates the Fall Harvest and the town is decorated and ready to celebrate with cornstalks and pumpkins. There are family events planned such as music and face painting as well as an art walk for adults. After spending some time in town hop on the rail trail and enjoy a leisurely stroll along the Kennebec while admiring the foliage and all of the colors reflecting on the water. Another place to

stop in is in the Unity area, at the Great Maine Apple Day. Fall foliage seekers should stop in to enjoy the freshest apples and pick out the perfect pumpkin for your fall decorating. The Apple Day celebration is held on the grounds of where the Unity Fair takes place each year. While you are in the area be sure to check out the Belfast Moosehead Railway. They offer an eight mile train ride between Unity and Burnham for visitors to sit back and enjoy the foliage. The colors in this area are so vibrant because of the dense forest area. Be sure to pack a camera because the sites along the way are just beautiful. Pumpkins and apples are bountiful this time of year and there are plenty of fall festivals to check out around the state so make it a to do this weekend!
