Maine Things To Do Bar Harbor Getaway: Spontaneous Fall Escapes
Posted by mainetodo on Monday, October 13 @ 16:54:53 PDT

Fall: Looking for a spontaneous fall getaway and not sure where to start. Try Bar Harbor this fall and discover why this is possibly one of the best times to visit this summer hot spot. First, you can take your pick of places to stay without having to fight summer crowds. Second, this is a nice time of year to enjoy the change in Maine’s landscape as the fall colors come alive. For couples, this is a great spot to spend a romantic fall weekend together. Start your trip out by booking a room at one of the many bed and breakfasts in the area. Some of these inns offer canopy beds and fireplaces in your room with breakfast included. If you are bikers, plan on bringing your bikes to explore the miles of trails at Acadia National Park. The Eagle Lake Loop is a 6.3 mile trail that runs through the mountains and along the lake. This is a great spot to view the foliage and stop off by the lake

to kick back and rest. If biking is not your thing then plan on spending the day wandering around town. Get up early and enjoy your morning coffee and a great breakfast on the porch of 2 Cats on Cottage Street. I highly recommend the scones and muffins, delicious! After a hearty breakfast spend some time wondering around all the shops. There are plenty of art galleries, antique shops, gift and clothing shops to browse around in. During the evening there is always a good time to be found at Lompoc Café & Brew Pub. Great food and great drinks all reasonably priced with a fun atmosphere! Bar Harbor is the perfect fall destination spot and without all the summer crowds you can really spend your time enjoying the area in peace.
